Armenia quadrupled beer exports last
year Yerevan. (Interfax) - Beer exports from Armenia last year were four times what they were the year before, the republic's customs committee has told Interfax. The country exported 2.251 million liters of beer for $1.4 million last year versus the 555,000 liters ($359,000) of the year before. Armenia primarily exports beer to Russia, Europe and the United States. At the same time, beer imports went practically unchanged year-on- year, 43,000 liters for $32,000 against 43,100 liters for $35,000 in 2000. Armenia mainly imports beer from Europe and Russia. The country's main beer-brewers are the brewery Kotaik in Abovyan and Yerevanskoye Pivo in the country's capital, which together command 80-90% of the home market. All told, Armenia brew 25.7% more beer last year at 9.981 million liters against the 7.941 million liters the country brewed in 2000. |
